2024 Genesis GV70 3.5T Sport Plus AWD
Genesis has quickly become one of the most exciting luxury brands to watch. We've driven most of their vehicles to date including several models of the GV70, their compact luxury SUV. James drove the Electrified version earlier this year, but the last time I got behind the wheel of a Genesis GV70 was October 2021. Not much has changed except for price, but we look toward a possible facelift in 2025 to bring some of the recently introduced design changes from the G90 over to their entire lineup.
So why are you going to consider this $78,000 CAD 2024 Genesis GV70 3.5T Sport Plus AWD over the competition? Several aspects of this SUV stand out to us. While you're getting a 375 horsepower V6 engine which sits well above any mid-grade offering from Germany, the overall GV70 package isn't designed for enthusiastic driving in Sport Plus mode all the time. The Genesis shines as a fantastic all-rounded daily driving SUV. It's comfortable, quiet, and has ample power to get you up to speed. The suspenion can be soft, which some drivers may feel the need to set their own custom drive mode to stiffen up the suspension while keeping everything else in comfort mode. It's no X3 M40i or AMG GLC 43 killer, but it stands up well on it's own.
Styling on the Genesis GV70 has remained untouched since it first launched. It's a smooth, curvy design without any sharp edges. There is a large grille which some may find to be too pronounced, but fits in with the overall design language Genesis offers. In fact they adopt the corporate design image across the board, unlike their consumer counterparts at Hyundai. Interior is adorned with luxury, almost every surface is a soft-touch material from leather or alcantara. Our only complaint on the inside may be the binnacle around the HVAC controls looking slightly dated. Aside from that the interior is both functional and comfortable.
