2019 Mercedes-AMG E 53 4matic+ Coupe Review
From 2003 to 2019, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupé has changed quite a lot. Our mini retrospective is on the 2019 Mercedes-AMG E 53 and how it compares to the 2003 Mercedes-Benz CLK 55 AMG.
How has the Mercedes-Benz E-Class changed over the decades? We look at the 2003 Mercedes-Benz CLK 55 AMG (C209) we featured last year and compare it to the new design found on the 2019 Mercedes-AMG E 53 (C238). Unlike the CLK-Class, this new generation E-Class coupé and convertible share the same platform as the sedan and wagon, whereas the CLK was built on the C-Class platform.
Our mini retrospective goes over the differences between the 2003 CLK 55 AMG and the new 2019 AMG E 53 including the engine and transmission specifications. We then go over all the features optioned on this E-Class, along with some of the other additional packages and options available for this generation.
We also take the 2019 E 53 on a comprehensive road test including raw exhaust sound from a standstill and a rolling start, along with our thoughts and opinions about how this baby-AMG performs and handles as a daily driver. We recommend watching our previous retrospective on the 2019 Mercedes-Benz E 450 4matic sedan to see all the features and tech of the W213 E-Class.
We wrap up our full tour and review of the 2019 Mercedes-AMG E 53 4matic+ Coupé by going over the fuel economy information we tested during our week, and talking about the likes and dislikes we had about this executive car.
