2019 Volvo S60 T6 R-Design
We're looking at the final version of the all-new 2019 Volvo 60-Series car, the 2019 Volvo S60 R-Design T6 AWD.
Now in it's third generation, the Volvo S60 is the luxury manufacturer's compact executive sedan, more or less replacing the 800-Series cars from the 90s, and is a successor to the short-lived S70. Our 2019 Volvo S60 T6 AWD R-Design is the mid-level trim with a sport-oriented exterior look, finished in brilliant red paint.
This S60 is tested at $63,750.00 CAD and comes with all the available options and packaged for the R-Design trim. The T6 2.0L twin-charged inline 4 engine produces 316 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque, and is matted to an 8 speed automatic transmission with all-wheel-drive. We had the unique opportunity to meet up with a number of Volvo enthusiasts during our time with the S60 R-Design including the owner of a 1997 Volvo 850 R sedan, and we get to see how this current model takes design inspiration from the old one.
We also include some original clips of Volvo's first high performance car, the 1995 Volvo 850 T-5R, along with clips we filmed of a 1998 Volvo V70 T5 with R-Design kit, a 2005 Volvo V70 R, & a 2009 Volvo C30 R-Design.
We go over some of the exterior and interior differences with this vehicle and take it on a comprehensive road test to talk about how it compares with some of the competition that we've driven like the Genesis G70, BMW 330i xDrive, and Mercedes-Benz C 300 4matic.
