2019 Lincoln Continental Reserve AWD

We're trying something new this week on TestDrive, we're calling it a Retrospective episode of TestDrive Spotlight. We're looking at the 2019 Lincoln Continental Reserve, but seeing if it lives up to the iconic 1962 Lincoln Continental Cabriolet.

The idea behind our Retrospectives will be to show off a classic car in the lineage of the vehicle we're featuring. This episode on the Continental is a perfect example as Lincoln used inspiration from the 60s model when designing certain elements of the latest 10th generation. Furthermore the 4th generation we're highlighting is also considered to be the most iconic Continental over the course of the 80 years it's been produced.

During our Retrospectives we take the opportunity to talk about the history of the vehicles, showing the differences between them, and admiring the past, but we aren't reviewing the classic, nor are we driving it and testing it. The idea is to provide some unique insight into the vehicles we're featuring, which is why it isn't part of TestDrive Showdown. Our full tour and review of the 2019 Continental goes over all it's tech features and design elements, while discussing the history of the brand with the 1962.

We do go over all the important information about the new Continental, including the exterior features like LED headlights, full suite of enhanced safety technology, power folding mirrors, easy-opening trunk, soft close doors, keyless entry, and remote starter. Inside we talk about the design of this top-end Reserve trim along with the features found.

The rear seat amenities package is a nice plus for this vehicle, with a power dual-pane moonroof, side window sun shades, a centre control console with cup holders, tri-zone automatic climate control, B-pillar air vents, heated, ventilated, and massaging seats, and much more.

We then take the 2019 Lincoln Continental on a road test with the 400 horsepower 400 lb-ft torque 3.0 Twin-Turbo EcoBoost V6 to see how it performs, handles, and rides from the perspective of potential buyers. We want to see if this car is smooth and quiet on the road, rather than putting our foot to the floor and racing around.
