2019 Kia Forte EX
2019 is shaping up to be the year of the compact car, and we've got our second all-new entry for the segment, the 2019 Kia Forte EX.
Our full tour & review of the all-new 2019 Kia Forte EX goes over the standard equipment on this compact sedan sold here in Canada, such as the LED headlights, forward collision warning, lane keep assist, backup camera with rear cross traffic alert, blind spot monitoring, and the exterior design which was designed by Peter Schreyer, the same designer behind the 2018 Kia Stinger.
We also spend some time talking about Kia's second generation Nu engine which uses the Atkinson Cycle technology, along with multi-port injection to increase fuel economy while still producing the same power numbers from the previous generation Forte. We also talk about Kia's new Intelligent Continuous Variable Transmission, known internally as the i-CVT, or an IVT.
We jump inside the 2019 Forte EX to talk about interior features, such as the front heated seats and heated steering wheel, Qi wireless charging, 8" infotainment system with Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, & rear cup holder arm rest with rear air vents.
TestDrive takes the 2019 Forte EX on a road test to talk about the new 2.0L naturally aspirated inline 4 engine and the i-CVT, along with the somewhat controversial rear torsion beam suspension and how it might affect the overall ride and handling of the 2019 Kia Forte. We had some light snow in Québec for filming our driving segment, so we also get to talk about how the Forte handles during the winter and in snow.
We wrap up our time with the 2019 Kia Forte by going over our likes and dislikes about the small car, and talk about what we expect to see in the future in this segment from competition like the 2019 Volkswagen Jetta, 2019 Honda Civic, and 2019 Hyundai Elantra.
