2019 Volkswagen Jetta Execline
The first all-new car of 2019 is here on TestDrive! We're taking a look at the redesigned MkVII 2019 Volkswagen Jetta Execline, or SEL Premium for those down in the USA. The compact sedan market is still a highly competitive segment for most of the automotive world, especially for Volkswagen, where they've built their business off of the small family car since their creation. The 2019 Mark VII Jetta has some new features, as well as some changes over previous generations, so we're going full in depth with this episode of TestDrive Spotlight. Our full tour and review of the 2019 VW Jetta Execline goes over the exterior features like the LED headlights and high beams, halogen fog lamps, KESSY keyless entry, and LED tail lights. We also talk about the way Volkswagen Canada is promoting this car online when it comes to the borderline misleading colour hue of the fog lights, something we take issue with and explain our reasoning during the episode. We also talk about some of the cost cutting measures Volkswagen has taken compared with the Mark V Jetta, the vehicle surrounding the TDI diesel emissions cheating scandal. Despite the engine related controversy, we feel the Mark V Jetta was the pinnacle of VW engineering and build quality, and use it as a benchmark when testing this new vehicle, such as the switch from a multi-link independent rear suspension to a torsion beam. We also go over some of the cost-cutting taking place in the trunk, with the way the trunk mechanism works, as well as the materials chosen for the inside of it. We hop inside the newly re-designed Jetta to talk about the fully loaded setup on this model, including Volkswagen's Digital Cockpit, infotainment system, dual zone automatic climate control, excellent 10-colour ambient lighting, front heated and ventilated seats, rail to rail sunroof, two USB outlets, and leather seating. We go over the navigation software and how it works with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Finally we take the 2019 Jetta on a road test to talk about how the car performs in the real world in terms of fuel economy, as well as on our test loop. The Jetta recorded 5.5L/100km on our test loop, and 6.6L/100km overall during our week.
