2018 Hyundai Kona 2.0L & 1.6T
As the 15th entrant into the subcompact crossover utility vehicle market, the 2018 Hyundai Kona has become an instant success for the South Korean manufacturer. Why? We've been spotting Konas on the road even before the official press launch in Canada back in the Spring, and on a typical drive into Montréal we'll spot at least a dozen on the road. Why is that? Why have buyers flocked to this subcompact crossover when there's so many others to choose from? We take two of the most important models on a road test. The 2.0L Luxury AWD with it's two-litre inline-four naturally aspirated engine, 6 speed automatic transmission, and well equipped features for it's under $28,000 price. We also have the chance to drive the 1.6T Ultimate AWD with it's 175 horsepower turbocharged inline-four engine and 7 speed dual-clutch automated manual transmission. Special thanks to Riendeau Hyundai in Sainte-Julie Québec for allowing us the use of their 1.6T Ultimate for this episode: https://www.riendeauhyundai.com/eng/ Our full tour and review of the 2018 Hyundai Kona goes over all the exterior and interior features of both models, taking both on a road test, and figuring out what special formula Hyundai is using to make buyers so interested in this car.
