2018 Volkswagen e-Golf

We drive one of the hottest EVs on the market today, the 2018 Volkswagen e-Golf with a 201km rated full EV range. This episode of TestDrive is brought to you by Elmec's EVduty. Their Level 2 Smart Home Charger allows us to fully enjoy the use of PHEV and EVs on TestDrive. Find out more at http://www.elmec.ca/ The Volkswagen MarkVII Golf is already an incredibly popular vehicle, both for enthusiasts wanting power and performance from vehicles like the GTI and Golf R, and now from electric enthusiasts with the e-Golf. This compact hatchback has a total EV range of 201km, with it's 100 kW all-electric motor. The 35.8 kWh battery helps to make this the longest range EV we've driven to date. The 40 different paint colours available on the e-Golf also make this vehicle highly customizable, assuming you can order one. VW Canada estimates a 12-18 month wait for new e-Golf orders. We take a look at some of the used models for sale in Canada and talk about pricing compared to other Golf models. Our full tour and review goes over the exterior features of the e-Golf with Technology Package, including the LED headlights and running lights, full front and rear parking sensors, keyless entry, 9.2" Discovery Pro infotainment screen, heated front seats, and backup camera. We talk about the exterior design of this vehicle and go over the interior including the important things to note about this car. We also take the e-Golf on a comprehensive road test to see what kind of range and energy economy we can get with a compact vehicle such as this. We averaged 15 kWh/100km during our near 800km week with the e-Golf, spending about $6.30 for use of a Level 3 480V charger for one longer drive that we did.
