1 Year Ownership | 2017 Mazda CX-5 GT
On August 24th 2017 we took possession of our new 2017 Mazda CX-5 GT with Tech Package. How have the last 365 days been with this compact crossover SUV? We go over our impressions 1 year in, including our cost of ownership for maintenance and parts. When we moved to Québec back in July 2017 we knew we needed a newer car that would be more reliable than our 2001 BMW 740iL we had been daily driving for the past two years, so we picked up a brand new 2017 Mazda CX-5 GT with the Tech package. Fully loaded, this compact crossover utility vehicle was finished in dark blue exterior paint with black leather interior. Exterior features include adaptive frnt LED headlights and fog lamps, a rear power lift gate, keyless entry, sunroof, and Mazda's 2.5L 184 horsepower SkyActiv-G inline four engine. Inside you find heated front and rear seats, heated steering wheel, dual zone automatic climate control, leather dashboard and door cards, colour Head-Up Display, 7" navigation screen with SiriusXM Radio and a 10 speaker Bose audio system. So how has our 2017 model held up over the past year? We go over our thoughts on this car after reviewing quite a number of other crossovers in 2018, including the various episodes we've filmed with this car since buying it. We also talk about some of the issues other owners have experienced so far such as the engine shaking or vibrations during extreme cold weather, as well as the Soul Red paint chipping issues. We wrap up with the small number of maintenance costs we've had over the past year. One thing we forgot to talk about was overall fuel economy, which has averaged 8.5L/100km for our 11,000km ownership of this car.
